yeah i think that i am going to do it myself but im not going to have the car back till the end of jan. what did u say about the knob, the stock one doesnt fit. I was thinking about going down to autozone or something to get one. all the knobs that are mini reltated are rediculously expensive. what r u goig to do?

The stock one actually fits. It just pops on there. My problem is that I pulled the knob off at the AutoX going into 2nd gear. What happened is that there appear to be 4 "clips" that hold it tight. One of mine is broken so the knob now comes off easier.

I haven't decided what knob to go with yet. Might be a good ida to check Autozone like you mentioned. As long as its not a cheap one, I would think a lot of them would work. I'd prefer to find one with the exact thread so that the knob could spin down tight onto the shifter.

Ahhh yes, UUC. I had a UUC shifter on my '95 M3. That is a VERY nice knob!

And now its on my 05 Gives me at least two tenths on the track thanks to Todds lineage... hehe.

Just be careful in the summer, they can get a tad warm on hot days with the sun hitting it at the right angle! hehe.

Well, these aren't like mass-produced pieces, definitely a near-custom item, and Whalen does awesome work.

Nope, but then I don't really park in the sun. I can tell you it gets very cold in the winter!

I have had the UUC RK3 shift knob like in the picture above on my BMW for the past 6 years. I love it and wouldnt trade it in. But..YES IT DOES GET VERY HOT OR COLD IN THE SUMMER/WINTER. We use a sock til it cools down....

idk that would kinda defeat the purpose for me. I really like the look of those nobs though
