Very cool... i want one for my daily commuter... hopefully by 2011 the economy will make some sense again and can swing it... hehe...

"For cost, say 240V at 20Amps (which is a fair amount of juice) is 4.8kW (Power = Voltage x amps). 4.8kW per hour, and 3 hours for a charge is 14.4kW. A quick check of electricity prices in my area is about 8 - 9 cents a kWh, so that's about $1.30 for 100 miles. Compared to an average car, that's peanuts."

There is certainly a cost to produce that electricity from an environmental side, whether it be from a steam, coal or nuclear plant. Would be interesting to know how much fossil fuel is used by a power plant in the process of producing that 14.4kW of power for one charge.

In Jay's case the cost is almost nothing, he has a wind turbine on the roof of his shop generating his electricity.

To bad these MINI E's will most likely go the way of GM's electric cars of about 10 years ago. after one year they pulled all of them back and crushed them because the experiment was over. That's why you can't buy one, only lease.

Yep. My dad forced me and Maddie to watch that documentary called "Who Killed the Electric Car?" LOL BUT, that video makes me want one even more. I just realized, my favorite part of the new MINIs is that sound you get when you turn it on. "Bloop bleep Bloop Bleep"... LOVE IT!
