Here we are at the best known landmark in Paris Texas!



In the next photos you may wonder why we are at the cemetery. There are two well known landmarks in Paris and we are parked in front of the "second" one.


The statue at the top of the monument at this grave is special.


Folks around here just simply call it "Jesus with the cowboy boots"


Its late, I'm tired but will post more of todays photos later on. They will include our visit to a diamond mine, some super twisties in Texas and Arkansas and our dinner spot "Mama Ruths"

While in Paris, I found this nice little car property. Maybe I should put an offer in on this house. I could enclose the carports and make them garages.


Aircraft restoration? Not an airport around, but this guy has a business here.


Simple policy, seems easy to remember. A whole lot easier than the "Thou Shall Not Steal, and more to the point.


Now if I could find some Cooper Super Octane


They new I was coming. Saturday some guy thought the car was German, at least they new it is English.


They lied, no Armadillos for sale. I still haven't seen any alive.

I told you we went to a diamond mine. State park in Arkansas, 6.50 per person, keep anything you find. We found dirt, but didn't keep it.

Our dinner was great, I had catfish and shrimp, Debbie had chicken fried chicken. We even visited with Mama Ruth and her daughter.


Curves, dips, narrow road and lots of trees.

By the way we are in Memphis, did the Graceland thing today. Too many pics taken, may only post one or two later. Too much to do,....

Oh, by the way, staying on Elvis Presley Blvd. Not at the HEARTBREAK HOTEL, but also half the price and still have a King size ""MiNi" Suite. And yes, we are waiting for a pink Cadi Limo to pick us up for dinner at Marlowes.

Tuesday we toured Sun Records, Beal Street, and took the Gibson Guitar Factory tour. We drove around Memphis, picked up souvenirs and are ready to hit the road today. I will post pics from yesterday later on maybe.

Last night we decided to try and hit Tupelo and see Elvis's birthplace (originally was going to go there first and Memphis second). Then looking at the map it seems like we will head south to Liberty Mississipi and check out the area that Jerry Clower talked about in his comedy, maybe do a little coon huntin, and look for some of the Ledbetters.

So far the old Dr. Pepper sign is almost my favorite, but nothin' beats the Jesus in cowboy boots - what a find!

Today I drove 604 Miles in my MINI, watched them film part of a movie in New Orleans, saw an 8 ft Alligator that was hit by a car, saw a 125 pound snapping turtle, held a live alligator in my own hands, saw a herd of buffalo (American Bison), saw a couple of huge Texas Longhorn cattle, ate fresh Gulf shrimp and saw 6 camels in a guys front yard. What did you do?
