Newbie Question about Tint and ClearBra

I am about to become a member of this fine organization and the proud new owner of an 08 Clubman (May delivery?). I live north of Tucson and wondered if there is someone in town who does good Tint and Invisishield/ClearBra installs or should I get it done at the dealer - MINI North Scottsdale?

Hope to be motoring with you soon.

Gratz on the new Clubman!! Can't wait to see it.

Any MadMen with a good tint recommendation in the Tucson area?

They guy most of us use in the Phoenix area is Mark, 602-230-TINT (8468). He's done numerous DMC members cars with great results. He's a mobile installer, but I don't believe outside of the valley.

You'll hear varying opinions on the ClearBra, and I believe MNS farms out the install anyway, so I think your better off finding a place that does it, and not paying a commission to the dealer on top of whatever vendor they use.

I know Mike @ http://www.aestheticreations.net/ was talking about possibly getting into the ClearBra install, but I'm not sure if he has or not. He's swamped getting ready for AMVIV in Las Vegas though, so I doubt he'll have much free time the next few weeks.

I would never have MNS tinit my windows again...bubbles on the BMW and Mini and they wont warranty it. Especially for the $250-500 price tag. Meet Mark up here and have him do it. And on the clear bra.... dont get me started. Im one that is opposed. $500 clear bra and after a year here in Phoenix it totally looks like ass. And if you ever decide to take it off...you will have to get the hood and other pieces painted because of the fade....and YES it will fade contrary to what they say. I would just save the money and put it towards an eventual painting session...... my .02 cents

And if your looking for some custom graphics for your Clubman, AS just started offering those too. He just posted some pics on NAM.

MNS did the tint on both of our Coopers. Each came out perfect.

Well the odds that it would is pretty high... MINE on the other hand did not. I have slight bubbling on the driver/passenger side windows and on my BMW...they did a hack job on my back window. :x I will be having mark limo tint my Mini, BMW and Touareg here in the near future... :D

Thanks for the advice. We have Invisishield on our motorhome and its worked really well. Mostly I am looking for someone to apply it to the inside of the door handle area. I have really tough fingernails and tend to scratch the paint under the door handle. We're scheduled for build week 14 so we don't expect delivery until early May. I've been waiting 40 years for a Mini but the next 9 weeks are going to be tough.

I had my windows tinted at the dealer before I picked it up. (bought mine in OK). One Tucson member that I know of has clear bra, but I don't know where it was installed.

Get the clear bra! Justin - sorry I love ya but I never should have listened to you when I first got my car. After only a few months I had millions of paint chips and ended up paying for a new paint job. Needless to say I have the clear bra now.

I know of a GREAT tint place here in Phx if you need one - they've done at least 6 cars of mine, are inexpensive and the tint is perfect.

Congrats on the new car!!

Ultra Shield of Phoenix (they also go by Protective Film Solutions)
They are located near the Scottsdale Airpark (not too far from Mini North Scottsdale). I dealt with Ryan and he can be reached at 602-694-6979.

They do the clearbra install and have recently added window tinting to their business. Really nice guys, been happy with them. My boyfriend had his GP clearbra install done by them as well & was happy with the outcome.

These guys are the ones that MNS and all of those other dealerships located near MNS use. I'd go through them directly; that way you will not be paying any dealer mark-up's by getting the dealership involved.

(They do have the door handle protection that you ask about available - just had mine done a few weeks ago)

I would not go with out the clear bra on any of my cars... I would rather have the paint slightly fade, then have it chip away.. IF, it did fade some ( i highly doubt it will, unless you have it parked facing the sun 24x7 (or 24x10 summer, 24x8 winter for you critical folkes..) i could be buffed out most likely.. my 3 cents

Any idea if they can do full hood coverage? Hate the bra line and this should eliminate the possibility of uneven fading(....I hope)

!

I also had really bad rock chips but Patty and I had the Aero kit painted by the dealer which made the rock chips ten times worst. I have had the front repainted by a better paint place and looks much better.

I had the mini tinted from the dealer too. Had a couple problems but they fixed them for me.

Clear Bra

I got mine at Smart Shield in North PHX, 623-889-7399, they did a great job installing and the material really does stop the paint chips but if you have white stripes and mirros, you will see a slight "yellowing" going on. I had the windows tinted at the dealer and they were fine.
