MM - A Show Low Weekend at Boar Ranch August 23-25

Mark your calendars for the weekend of August 23-25 and start your engines. We are heading to Show Low for a weekend of .........? Actually for whatever you want to do as we have a list of options to choose from.

We'll be leaving Tucson Friday night after work or if you want to leave early Saturday and travel the Salt River Canyon as the sun is rising that's your first option.

We'll be using the Raels Boar Ranch as a base of operations for the weekend and you can plan your Saturday to be as lazy or as active as you want. Stay around the compound in your lounge chair, cruise into Show Low or Pine Top for shopping and sightseeing, head for one of the local lakes, head north to Holbrook for fossils or to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert (National Park Annual Pass=free admission). After a full day of .....? whatever, we'll be back at Boar Ranch dining on chuck wagon grub of pork, beans and ??? and singing around the campfire.

Lodging choices are dry camp at the compound (this is a one toilet location) or stay in town at America's Best Value Inn (closest lodging to the Ranch at the east end of town and link is below). There are other motels in town if you decide to stay somewhere else.

Sunday will be a return to Tucson or points west with options for the road to be traveled.

In addition to your sense of adventure please bring a chair if you don't want to sit on the ground, whatever you plan on drinking and a side dish for dinner. The Raels are providing the meat and beans for dinner.

There are plenty of nice motels in the area, from small mom and pop place to the usual chain hotels. Pinetop/lakeside is just down the road and there are more hotels and cabin rentals available also.

We do have this an event over on the DMC Facebook Events as well. Some people have signed up there, and there are several 'Maybe" answers, https://www.facebook.com/events/158081631041179/ If you plan to come and you are in the Phoenix area you may want to RSVP on the Facebook page in the events section under this event and see who plans to leave when and start thinking about a meeting point and time.

The Tucson group will probably have an evening departure from the Catalina area to drive up together. Although some of us are going up early to make sure we are ready for guests.

Others may have just RSVP'd via email to the MADMEN of Tucson directly. MADMENofTucson@gmail.com

You can do any of the above options or even post on this thread. This is a very loose event for DMC members to explore the White Mountains of Arizona with several options. We gave a suggestion for nearby lodging but there are other hotels and motels including cabin rentals in the area of Show Low, Pinetop/Lakeside.

Side dishes can be purchased locally if you want. Several Deli and and grocery store options. We also have a kitchen available at "the ranch" if you want to prepare something.
