A MINI Weekend Alamogordo Jan 10-12

The first of our 2014 weekend motoring escapades is planned for Jan. 10-12.

We will be leaving Tucson Friday evening for arrival at the Super 8 in Las Cruces for our first night's stay. http://www.super8whitesandsarealascruces.com/

Saturday morning we head for the White Sands Missile Range Museum http://www.wsmr-history.org/ for the history of America's missile and space activity.

Up the road is White Sands National Monument with an informative visitor center and then a drive through the massive white dunes. http://www.nps.gov/whsa/index.htm

Alamogordo is home to the New Mexico Museum of Space History which includes an IMAX Theater and Planetarium. http://www.nmspacemuseum.org/ Fortunately, our visit is just before the museum is closed temporarily for installation of new front doors.

We are still researching motels in Alamogordo for Saturday night. If you have suggestions for motels or other activities in the area please let us know.

A MINI Weekend in Alamogordo, the first 2014 MADMEN weekend adventure is fast approaching and lodgings have finally been researched!

At this time it looks as if we will be leaving Tucson between 5:30 and 6 pm Friday. If you are coming with us PLEASE let us know what time you can be ready to leave. Some attendees do have the day off and can leave earlier and some will be catching up to us either after our dinner stop or at the motel in Las Cruces. If you do have the day off and want to leave earlier we'd like to know so you all can travel as a group also.

Friday night we will be staying at The Super 8 in Las Cruces/White Sands Area at 3405 Bataan Memorial West, Las Cruces. Located on Highway 70 at the north end of town we can hit the road after waffles and cereal in the morning with no city traffic to contend with.

Saturday night in Alamogordo you can maximise the budget at the Super 8 at 3204 N. White Sands Blvd. located towards the north end of town.

There are other choices if you want to spend more or earn points with a different chain.
Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Quality Inn and Suites or Days Inn are located more central and south in town
