** 10/3 - Updated weather forecast (bit cooler), local freeway closures for the weekend and RSVP list.
It's that time again, for our second Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup to the DMCs Mile Marker up on AZ-87, North of Payson!
Thanks again to Suzanne for putting in the work to get our sign in place and handle the safety class requirement and organization with ADOT!
She did a lot of work on the Spring event to make sure things ran great.
So I'm sure I forgot something, Suzanne? Anything else we learned from the Spring event?
Click here to see the actual location of the sign on a map.
I would suggest you wear boots or some type of high sneaker, long sleeve shirt or jacket, maybe a hat, since it WILL be cool up there in the morning, but should warm up a bit later in the day. A cooler with some water to quench your thirst would also be a good idea. ADOT is providing the safety vests, tools, bags, etc.
I WILL HAVE (approved 9/23) my companies Dodge Durango, so that we can more easily shuttle people to the work positions, rather than have to run a few at a time in Minis like last time. It should let us get started a bit quicker, as well as get everyone back to the cafe a bit faster too.
Those coming from the Phoenix area, we will meet at 8AM at the Baja Gas Station on the SouthEast corner of Ft. McDowell Road and the AZ-87. Departure time, 8:15AM Sharp, so please be gassed up and ready to go. As was mentioned in the thread for the Spring event, you should probaby gas up somewhere else before meeting up, as Bajas prices tend to be on the high-end, this just made a good central meeting point.

It's approximately 70 miles from the Baja to Payson, where we'll stop on the North side of town for a bathroom break at the Maverik location below.

After a quick stop and break, we will head north out of Payson, approximately 30 miles and proceed past our mile marker and will be parking at the Long Valley Cafe, which is right on AZ-87 at mile marker 290, approximately a mile north of where our mile marker is.

We should arrive at the Cafe at approximately 10:15, so those coming from Flagstaff or areas North, should meet us here if they aren't meeting us in Payson. Suzanne has some safety items she has to go over with everyone, and then we want to carpool back to our work area and be working by 10:30.
We expect to be completed in less than 2 hours, hopefully by noon, when we'll then return to the Cafe for lunch.
Once again, after the lunch we will head back into Payson and over to Todd and Carols cabin for a little desert! Thanks again for offering to host !
Please be aware of this weekends freeway closures if they are in your way

Forecast for Payson as of 10/3.
