They look pretty normal size to me.
It's the signature and Avatar photos that have size limits because they get repeated on every one of your posts. One-time photos within the message body aren't limited, however it's best to keep them below about 800x600 pixels.
edit: OK I just double-checked, Carey's photos are 1024x768 pixels, which is on the large size, but the forum seems to be automatically re-sizing them for me
