It's time to take a tip from Alice Cooper and head up north to his favorite getaway! We took the second half of this run right out of the pages of "Via Corsa's Car Lover's Guide to Arizona" Then added a nice lakeside drive up to make things interesting! Pack your picnic baskets for this one, or, if you prefer, grab something to go at our first stop, Basha's and Subway parking lot in Payson, to take with you to the lake.
This will be an all day run. When I pre-ran it and calculated stop times I figured 8 hours total w/ 5.5hrs drive time.

What: A day of Motoring and sight seeing with fellow MiNi enthusiasts
When: Saturday, July 24th, 2010.
Meet at 8:30am, depart 9:00am
Where: Chevron (formerly Baja Gas Station)
10180 N Fort Mcdowell Rd
Fort Mcdowell, AZ
Why: Because a run through the north hills is a perfect way to get out of the heat!
How: North up 87 to Lake Mary Road, continue to Lake Mary for a Picnic lunch, then hop over the 17 to 89A, south down 89A through the canyon, Ice cream at DQ (parking space permitting) then home down the 17.
What to bring: A folding chair or picnic blanket (picnic tables are limited), A full tank of gas (top it off before we go, it's a 300+ mile trip), A Camera (lots of scenery on this run!!), A fun loving attitude and a desire to 'stop and smell the roses'.

I just had one of those "show up at class naked" type of dreams!
Well, I didn't show up to the run naked, but I showed up to the wrong meeting place (as did a bunch of other people), Told everyone to get in their cars and go without first holding a driver's meeting, and forgot to make/print/hand out run maps!
