TPMS goes off!

Postby driverphil » Thu Sep 08, 2011 6:20 pm

Had our TPMS sound the alarm. We checked the tyres and all pressures were normal.

The next day the car would not start, dead battery.

I'm thinking that the TPMS electronics are the first to starve from a low battery.

Wow - good to know. I'm expecting my battery to go soon. Devin at MINI N. Scottsdale said the more recent MINIs have been going about 3+ years on batteries now. I kept telling him to check it cause I remember my first MINI dying so quickly.

06 battery.... 1 1/2yr
09...... a year
10...just waiting..its a yr now...14k miles

Batteries in the hot areas die faster then cold...heat kills..
I think any Battery more then 2yrs is on borrowed time

Been my experience as well... 25-26 months on both the OEM Mini battery in the 2005 MCS and in the 2009 MCS.

Got TPMS alert this morning and tire was only at 30. Also been getting key battery alerts. Gonna take it by dealership after work.
